Epidural hematoma underlying a linear temporal bone fracture in a 31-year-old man (CT)

Nonenhanced cranial CT scan (A) demonstrates a right temporal epidural hematoma (open arrow) without apparent fracture. When bone window attenuation settings are used, however, a nondisplaced fracture of the temporal bone (solid arrows) is demonstrated. (Contributed by Dr. Vincent Traynelis.)
