Achilles tendon shortening with fixed foot drop and high arches in DI-CMTC

Achilles tendon shortening is often preventable if addressed early on with daily stretch exercises and foot bracing. Different ankle-foot orthoses are appropriate for daytime versus nighttime use. When as advanced as shown here, surgery may be indicated to improve gait and discomfort and to reduce likelihood of ensuing damage to the knees, hips, and spine. (Contributed by Dr. Florian Thomas.)
