The muscle strip is placed in the 37-degree muscle bath, which consists of a Krebs solution. Initially the bath is bubbled with O2 5% CO2. If halothane is to be administered, the gas goes through a calibrated vaporizer. (Contributed by Dr. Jordan Miller.)
