Electron micrograph of a radial glial fiber identified by its glycogen content (arrows), presenting intense lysosomal proliferation. This underlies a process of radial glial fiber transformation into astrocytes. Migrating neuroblasts that need radial glial fibers for their migration would, therefore, be arrested heterotopically within the white matter. Electron microscopic glial staining technique.
