Astrocytoma of the medulla and spinal cord

Astrocytoma of the lower medulla and upper spinal cord produces fusiform enlargement of both structures as it invades parenchyma. Location and diffuse pattern of infiltration make resection extremely difficult. (Contributed by Drs. Julio Garcia and Eduardo Eyzaguirre.)
