Deep cerebral venous system thrombosis (MRI series)

Brain MRI demonstrates high signal intensity in FLAIR and T1-weighted (not shown) images in both thalami consistent with cerebral edema. Gradient echo images show low signal intensity centered in the left thalamus consistent with a region of acute hemorrhage. MR venography of the dural sinuses demonstrates absence of signal in both internal cerebral veins, both basal veins of Rosenthal, the vein of Galen, and the straight sinus consistent with cerebral deep venous sinus thrombosis with complete occlusion.
