Calvarial, skull base, dural, and nasopharyngeal metastases
Both the calvarium and skull base can be affected by a variety of benign, tumor-like, and malignant processes. Calvarial metastases are usually asymptomatic and discovered incidentally on radiographic studies. Skull base metastatic lesions commonly present with pain. Lung, breast, prostate, multiple myeloma and solitary plasmacytoma, and head/neck cancer account for most cases of skull metastases.
