Maria Bruzzone Giraldez MD

Dr. Maria Bruzzone is double board-certified in neurology and epilepsy. She earned her medical degree from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay), completed her neurology residency at Loyola University Chicago, and a neurophysiology/epilepsy fellowship at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on the use of electroencephalography (EEG) as a biomarker of delirium in both preoperative and ICU settings, as well as the application of the ketogenic diet for the treatment of epilepsy.

Dr. Bruzzone recently obtained the AAN A.B. Baker teacher recognition award (2025)

She is a fellow member of the ACNS, AES and AAN.
