Dystonia (generalized, DYT1) treated with pallidotomy

This Hispanic girl presented with "writer's cramp" at 8 years of age but progressed over a few years to severe generalized dystonia. She displays generalized dystonia while walking. She has severe neck dystonia, but her speech is essentially normal. She is markedly improved following bilateral pallidotomy. (Contributed by Dr. Joseph Jankovic.)
