Brain abscess (MRI)

Gadolinium-enhanced T1-weighted MRI scan of patient, obtained on the night of admission. Multiple enhancing lesions consistent with brain abscess. Well over 10 of these lesions were detected on multiple MRI cuts. Over the next 2 weeks, the patient was followed with serial MRI scans beginning at 24 to 48 hour intervals to detect enlargement of any of the abscesses despite antibiotics.
