Dr. Zalvan specializes in adult and pediatric voice and swallowing disorders, professional voice disorders, vocal fold paralysis, spasmodic dysphonia, neurolaryngology, laryngopharyngeal reflux, the aging voice, zenker's diverticulum, laryngeal cancer, and chronic cough. Dr. Zalvan has published and lectured nationally and internationally on these topics.
Dr. Zalvan has a special focus on treating reflux disease with a mostly plant-based, Mediterranean-style diet with publications in JAMA and Laryngoscope highlighting the improvement in results over medications with the additional health benefits of preventing and reversing many chronic diseases. His book, Laryngopharyngeal and Gastroesophageal Reflux: A Comprehensive Guide to Diagnosis, Treatment, and Diet-Based Approaches, is the first to combine both fields and a diet-based approach to reflux treatment.
