Medical Scientist Training Program
Endocrinology and Metabolism Department
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine

Mr. Drda's research interest is immunometabolism, with an emphasis on cholesterol biosynthesis in inflammatory disorders. He studies metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), cholestasis, and primary sclerosing cholangitis. He also researches isoprenoid metabolites in rare autoinflammatory disorders, such as mevalonate kinase deficiency (MKD), Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome (SLOS), and the newly described phosphomevalonte kinase deficiency (PMKD). By investigating inborn errors of cholesterol biosynthesis, he seeks to understand how these metabolic pathways become disordered in other diseases. He has research experience in mass spectrometry, clinical genetics, G protein-coupled receptors biology, lipid metabolism and lipoproteins, nanoparticle precision medicine, and clinical trial design.
