Ectopic posterior pituitary (MRI)

(A)Sagittal T1 precontrast, (B) sagittal T1 postcontrast, (C) coronal T1 precontrast, and (D) coronal T1 postcontrast images demonstrate a nondescended posterior hypophysis situated just posterior to the optic chiasm in an 18 year old with primary amenorrhea. The nonenhancing high signal focus of the posterior pituitary (arrowhead) is readily seen on all images. (Contributed by Dr. Diana Gomez-Hassan.)
