Internal carotid artery aneurysm treated with stent-assisted coiling

Catheter cerebral angiogram in 65-year-old woman demonstrated a 3 to 4 mm right internal carotid artery aneurysm in the location of the carotid cave, a potential intradural space for aneurysm formation. Given the difficulties and morbidity associated with open microsurgical treatment of an aneurysm in this location, the patient elected to proceed with endovascular treatment with stent-assisted coiling of the aneurysm.
