Coccidioidomycosis: neurologic manifestations
Coccidioidomycosis is a common fungal infection in the southwestern United States of America and other Central and South American nations. Primary infection with C immitis and C posadasii is through inhalation. Approximately 40% of those infected with C immitis develop an influenza-like illness, usually 1 to 4 weeks after exposure. Most symptoms resolve in 2 to 3 weeks except for fatigue, which may linger for weeks to months.
