Seizure in eyelid myoclonia with absences (video-EEG)

Video-EEG of a 17-year-old woman with eyelid myoclonia with absences. Recorded epileptic seizures were spontaneous or reflex-elicited by eye closure and photic stimulation. Ictal clinical manifestations consisted of eyelid myoclonia with or without jerks of the hands, head, and eyelids. Cognition was usually intact or only slightly impaired during the discharges. Ictal EEG manifested with frequent generalized discharges of spike or multiple spikes and slow waves, mainly on eye closure and photic stimulation. (Contributed by Dr. C P Panayiotopoulos.)
