Epilepsia partialis continua (MRI showing increased FLAIR signal)

Coronal and axial MRI images of the patient. There is a region of increased FLAIR signal in the right motor cortex, just superior to the Sylvian fissure. This abnormality involves both gray and white matter and is consistent with focal cortical dysplasia in this region. (Contributed by Dr. J Lawrence Hirsch.)
