Entry of B6 vitaminers into a cell

To enter a cell, phosphorylated vitamers are hydrolyzed by tissue-nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (ALPL). Once inside the cell, pyridoxal kinase phosphorylates the different vitamers, yielding pyridoxine-5’-phosphate (PNP), pyridoxamine 5’-phosphate (PMP), and pyridoxal 5′-phosphate (PLP).
