Anticholinergic drugs are used for treating neurologic as well as non-neurologic disorders. Anticholinergic agents are classified into 2 categories according to the receptors that they act on: antimuscarinic and antinicotinic agents. Indications include overactive bladder and neurogenic bladder, sialorrhea of Parkinson disease, and treatment of nerve agent poisoning. Most anticholinergic therapies are short-term or intermittent.
