Neurologic paraneoplastic disorders are relatively rare but often disabling complications of a variety of systemic neoplasms. Most, if not all, paraneoplastic disorders are believed to be caused by an autoimmune reaction against shared "onconeural" antigens, though the exact pathogenesis of most syndromes remains unclear. In most patients with paraneoplastic disorders, the neurologic symptoms are the presenting feature of an otherwise undiagnosed tumor.

Neuromuscular conditions that affect women during pregnancy are diverse. Disorders that initially present during pregnancy include Bell palsy, carpal tunnel syndrome, radiculopathy, and lower extremity mononeuropathies. Additionally, there are important considerations to be aware of in pregnant women with neuromuscular disorders such as hereditary neuropathies, myasthenia gravis, myopathy, and motor neuron disease.

Disorders of articulation manifest in the form of incorrect pronunciation, particularly of consonants. They are common in early childhood and are generally resolved by adolescence, although associated language and reading difficulties may persist.
