Idiopathic photosensitive occipital lobe epilepsy is an idiopathic epilepsy syndrome with visually induced seizures that usually begins around puberty.

Occipital and parietal lobe seizures have distinct clinical characteristics. Occipital lobe seizures present with visual symptoms, eye blinking, and nystagmus. Parietal lobe seizures may present with somatosensory symptoms, ictal pain, and visuospatial abnormalities. Occipital and parietal lobe seizures may propagate forward and mimic temporal and frontal lobe seizures. Prognosis depends on the underlying etiology of the seizures.

Headache & Pain
Substance headache is a headache that develops de novo with the use or exposure of a substance. The clinical manifestations of these headaches are variable and depend on the substance, dose, and duration of exposition. Headache frequently improves or resolves after substance withdrawal. The exception is carbon monoxide poisoning, wherein neurologic disturbance, particularly in the occipital areas or cerebellum, can leave permanent dysfunction.

Progressive systemic sclerosis is a condition associated with thickening of the skin and tethering to subcutaneous tissues as well as smooth muscle atrophy and fibrosis of internal organs such as the gastrointestinal tract, lungs, heart, and kidneys. Pain symptoms are common in patients with systemic sclerosis and are independently associated with more frequent episodes of Raynaud phenomenon, active ulcers, and worsening synovitis.

Traditionally, vaccines have been developed for prevention of infectious diseases. For example, vaccines are the most important and effective preventive measures against COVID-19 and its neurological manifestation, ie, neuroCOVID. Apart from prevention of infectious diseases, vaccines are in development for therapeutic use in noninfectious diseases. Indications for therapeutic vaccines include neurodegenerative disorders, traumatic brain injury, glioblastoma, and multiple sclerosis.

Epilepsy with continuous spike-and-waves during sleep syndrome can be characterized by the following features: (1) epilepsy, with focal and apparently generalized seizures; (2) neuropsychological impairment with global or selective regression of cognitive functions; (3) transient motor impairment with ataxia, dyspraxia, dystonia, or unilateral deficits; (4) typical EEG findings with diffuse or more or less unilateral electrical status epilepticus during slow sleep occurring in up to 85% of slow sleep.
