Encephalopathy: slowing of background frequencies on EEG (2)

The EEG hallmark of acute encephalopathy is slowing of the background frequencies. This EEG from an unresponsive (comatose) patient shows a discontinuous (burst-suppression) pattern. The frequencies continue to slow as the coma deepens (Contributed by Dr. Jeffrey Nicholl and Dr. David Gloss.)
