Cardiac mitochondrion in Barth syndrome

Electron microscopy of a specimen of myocardium from a 1-year-old patient obtained immediately after death. The sample shows a huge mitochondrion with abnormal stacks of tubular cristae on the lower side and irregular cristae in the center. Magnification bar 1µ. (Contributed by Dr. Peter Barth.)
