Preictal regional temporal attenuation on scalp EEG

In this patient, who underwent depth recording, it is reasonable to assume that the "preictal" flattening represents the onset of a narrowly confined amygdala discharge. The clinical seizure starts at the arrow. The EEG section at the right is postictal (3 minutes after seizure onset) and shows a marked sharp-wave activation over right temporal. This case is described in detail in (Wieser 2000). (Contributed by Dr. Heinz Gregor Wieser.)
