Pilocytic astrocytoma (CT)

Unenhanced CT of a 24-year-old woman who had a several-month history of right-sided simple partial seizures. The scan shows a large cystic left temporal lobe mass with a centralized nodule of solid tumor that is similar in density to surrounding brain. There is midline mass effect and compression of the brainstem, but little peritumoral edema. (Contributed by Dr. Herbert Newton.)
