Idiopathic generalized epilepsy with phantom absences (interictal EEG)
Brief generalized discharges of 3 Hz spike-and-slow waves lasting 2 to 3 seconds without apparent clinical manifestations. Similar abnormalities were recorded in 1972 and again in 1997. Note the similarity of the discharge with the ictal and immediately post-diazepam EEG. The only significant difference is duration, brief interictally, continuous for hours ictally.
