Brandt-Daroff exercises

These exercises are for self-treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo of the posterior canal (irrespective of the affected side). Patients are instructed to sit on a bed and to drop trunk and head to the affected side with the lateral occiput resting on the bed. They are asked to return to sitting and then drop to the opposite side. Each position has to be maintained for 30 seconds. These exercises are repeated 5 to 10 times during 1 session. Patients may perform up to 4 sessions per day. (Contributed by Dr. Thomas Lempert.)
