Linear skull fracture involving the squamous temporal and parietal bones of a 47-year-old man (radiograph)

This lateral cervical spine radiograph obtained immediately on arrival in the emergency department demonstrates an extensive temporoparietal skull fracture that crosses the course of the middle meningeal artery. Such findings suggest a high probability of epidural hemorrhage, as was confirmed in this case with cranial CT scans. (Contributed by Dr. Vincent Traynelis.)
