Patterns of muscle weakness in inclusion body myositis. (A) Wasting of the forearm muscles (*) with difficulty making a grip. (B) Quadriceps atrophy (*). (C) “Locking up” of the knee to avoid falls and use of a cane. (D) Dysphagia in a patient who has to use a special cup to avoid tilting the head backwards when he tries to swallow.
