Typical immunopathology of inclusion body myositis

MHC-1/CD8 complex in inclusion body myositis. (A) The cells surrounding or invading healthy muscle fibers are CD8+T cells, seen in green, immunostained with an anti-CD8+ monoclonal antibody (x640). (B) There is also widespread expression of MHC-1, seen in green (x350), even in fibers not invaded by T cells. (C) The characteristic MHC-1/CD8 complex is shown based on the superimposition of red/green on the autoinvasive CD8+ cells (orange) and the MHC-1 (green) expression on both the muscle fibers and the T cells.
