Patient with bent spine syndrome caused by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

Note the difficulty standing erect from weakness primarily affecting the thoracic region. Although this patient presented with back weakness, the diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis was evident from fasciculations, additional weakness in the limbs, electromyographic abnormalities, and the characteristic progression.
