Late venous phase (fluorescein angiography)

As the bolus of dye passes through the eye, the arterioles are seen to empty while the veins are still completely filled. The dye will now begin to recirculate and remain visible for an extended period of time. It is in these late phases that a breakdown in the blood-brain barrier in the eye can be documented.
