Infarction patterns in the vertebrobasilar system

(A) Occlusion of the proximal BA produces extensive infarction of the brainstem, cerebellum and posterior cerebral hemispheres. (B) Infarction of the superior cerebellar artery territory exemplifies a medium sized infarction. (C) Paramedian pontine infarction secondary to occlusion of small penetrating arterial branches.
