Neurofibromatosis 2 is a tumor predisposition syndrome most commonly associated with the development of multiple schwannomas (classically bilateral vestibular schwannomas), meningiomas, and ependymomas. Most adult patients present with symptoms of hearing loss, tinnitus, and impaired balance. Children more commonly present with visual symptoms such as strabismus, cataract, visual loss, or proptosis, and sometimes unilateral facial nerve paralysis or seizures.
