Alpha coma and spindle coma patterns (EEG)

Alpha coma and spindle coma are characterized by nonreactive diffuse alpha or sleep spindle-like (approximately 14 Hz) activity. These patterns are most commonly seen in severe encephalopathies after an anoxic injury or severe poisoning. (Contributed by Dr. Jeffrey Nicholl and Dr. David Gloss.)
