Branch retinal vein occlusion(2)

Retinal vein occlusions are a common type of retinal vasculopathy, second only to diabetic retinopathy. There is no racial or sexual predilection. Patients are usually affected the fifth or sixth decade of life. Systemic hypertension is a risk factor because of the thickening of the arteriole and the ensuing venula compression, which occurs because the arterioles and venules are bound together by a common adventitial sheath.
