Thirty-two-year-old male with a history of trigeminal schwannoma removed 8 years ago developed recurrent right facial numbness. Left: Axial, T1-weighted (TR 500/TE 25), enhanced MRI at the level of the pons and Meckel’s cave. A large, diffusely enhancing trigeminal schwannoma is present on the right side. Note the compression of the right temporal lobe by tumor. Right: Axial, T1-weighted (TR 500/TE 25), enhanced image at the level of the midbrain, demonstrating compression of the temporal lobe and severe distortion of the midbrain. Note the extension of the tumor toward the cavernous sinus and superior orbital fissure. (Contributed by Dr. Herbert Newton.)
