Cerebral amyloid angiopathy associated with chronic granulomatous arteritis

Meningeal vessel shows severe transmural chronic inflammation, including multinucleated (foreign body type) giant cells that surround amyloid beta protein (Aß) immunoreactive material. One interpretation of this finding is that the giant cells recognize the Aß amyloid as a “foreign” protein. (Contributed by Dr. Jeffrey L Saver.)
