Eye movement abnormalities in a patient with spinocerebellar ataxia type 1

The first segment of the video demonstrates sustained gaze-evoked nystagmus on extreme left and right gaze with relatively low amplitudes. The latter segment shows hypermetric saccades when performing either rightward or leftward saccades. Hypermetric saccades are also present in vertical directions (not shown in this video). These eye movement abnormalities are not specific to spinocerebellar ataxia type 1 and can also be seen in other forms of spinocerebellar ataxia. (Contributed by Dr. Pichet Termsarasab.)
