Diatom Pseudo-nitzschia (1)

Pseudo-nitzschia, a marine planktonic diatom genus that accounts for approximately 4% of pennate (ie, bilaterally symmetrical) diatoms found worldwide. Some species are capable of producing the neurotoxin domoic acid, which is responsible for amnesic shellfish poisoning.
