Basil O’Connor (1892-1972)

O’Connor was Chairman of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis that funded the development and testing of polio vaccines, including the Salk killed virus vaccine. He was also later Chairman and President of the American Red Cross (1944-1949) and the League of Red Cross Societies (1945-1950). (Contributed by Dr. Douglas Lanska.
