Transplantation: neurologic complications
Seizures, stroke, encephalopathy, and opportunistic brain infections are frequent complications in transplant recipients, with neurologic complications experienced by 30% to 60% of patients. Neurotoxicity from immunosuppressive drugs can cause complications ranging from mild tremors to posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome. Neurologic complications are associated with high morbidity and mortality, and prompt evaluation and treatment are imperative.
