Spinal and thoracic deformities associated with acromegaly

In longstanding cases of acromegaly, bony deformation affects the spine, causing upper dorsal kyphosis and compensatory accentuation of lumbar lordosis (Swayback). The thorax is also deformed due to a protuberance of the lower portion of the sternum and by elongation and divergence of the ribs. (Source: Chanson and Salenave 2008.
