The Drunkard's Progress, or the Direct Road to Poverty, Wretchedness & Ruin: Concluding Scene (1826)

Hand-colored engraving by John Warner Barber (1798-1885), printed in New Haven, Connecticut. Biblical quotations above the image: "The drunkard shall come to poverty. Proverbs 23 Chap. 21 v." [Proverbs 23:21] and "The wages of Sin is Death. Romans 6 Chap. 23 v." [Romans 6:23]. There is an auction sign on the house, ordered by the sheriff.
