HIV retinopathy cotton-wool spots

HIV retinopathy cotton-wool spots are the most common findings in patients with AIDS, occurring in 50% to 60% of individuals with HIV. The white lesion in HIV retinopathy is caused by microvasculopathy (cotton-wool spots). Cotton-wool spots seen in individuals with HIV are identical to those seen in other conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension (Contributed by Dr. Rosa Tang.)
