Leaky blood-brain barrier linked to Alzheimer disease
Researchers using contrast-enhanced MRI have identified leakages in the blood-brain barrier (BBB) of people with early Alzheimer disease. The results suggest that increased BBB permeability may represent a key mechanism in the early stages of the disease.
Fasting-like diet reduces multiple sclerosis symptoms
A new study, published in the journal Cell Reports, finds that a diet mimicking the effects of fasting increases levels of corticosterone, reduces inflammation-causing cytokines, improves white blood T cells, and promotes regeneration of myelin.
