We mourn Lewis Rowland MD, founding member of the Editorial Board
Dr. Rowland, 91, was a beloved, world-renowned, and highly influential neurologist and academic leader for a half century. He and his close associate, Dr. Salvatore DiMauro were founding members of the MedLink Editorial Board and Senior Associate Editors for Neuromuscular Disorders. Dr. Rowland was a member of the Editorial Board Executive Committee and an active contributor to MedLink Neurology until his recent death. We will miss his humanity, his email missives, and incisive comments at our Editorial Board meetings.

What the age of your brain says about you
A study just published in Molecular Psychiatry introduces a clinically relevant neuroimaging aging biomarker and demonstrates that combining distinct measures of biological aging further helps to determine risk of age-related deterioration and death. Such biomarkers could potentially identify those at risk of age-associated health problems years before symptoms appear, and be used as outcome measures in trials of therapeutics aimed at delaying the onset of age-related disease.
150-year-old drug may provide ‘off’ time relief for people with advanced Parkinson disease
A study that will be presented at the American Academy of Neurology’s 69th Annual Meeting in Boston next week found that advanced Parkinson disease patients who were given the drug apomorphine had a significantly greater reduction of “off” time than those who were given placebo.
