Body’s own defense against ALS actually drives disease progression at later stages
Sep 11, 2017
Findings in mice underscore complexity of deadly neurological disease; lay foundation for therapies that could eventually prevent onset of ALS.
Food supplement may be key to treatment of familial dysautonomia
Dec 21, 2016
A new Tel Aviv University study identifies the molecular pathway that leads to neurodegeneration in familial dysautonomia and demonstrates that the supplement phosphatidylserine has the potential to slow progression of the neurodegeneration.
Study finds a key to nerve regeneration
Sep 16, 2016
A study published in The Journal of Neuroscience reports Schwann cells transform themselves to play a much more active and "intelligent" role after injury than previously thought. The authors describe a latent program where Schwann cells become the first responders and initiate many actions that are required for axon regeneration.
