MiB-1 immunostaining of a pituitary adenoma from a 22-year-old man with acromegaly

(x 200) The proliferation index is very low with approximately 3% of cells showing immunoreactivity against MiB-1. The MIB-1 monoclonal antibody recognizes the Ki-67 protein, which is expressed over the entire cell cycle except for the G0 phase; it has been used as an operational marker of cell proliferation for various types of tumors.
