Cerebellar hypoplasia is a feature of several neurodevelopmental disorders in which the cerebellum is small in size, but normal in shape. Disorganized development of the cerebellum causes cerebellar dysplasia in which the shape and “texture” of the cerebellum appear abnormal due to the presence of abnormal folia pattern or gray matter nodular heterotopia. Macrocerebellum is a rare malformation that may occur as an isolated finding or as part of a few syndromes.

Seizure is defined as "a transient occurrence of signs and/or symptoms due to abnormal excessive or synchronous neuronal activity in the brain." First seizure (single or multiple events within 24 hours) represents a frequent presentation of new-onset seizures, accounting for up to a third of such presentations. However, the majority of these patients will not go on to have recurrent seizures, ie, epilepsy.
